Our Story
Over the past 12 years in Jackson, Tennessee where TornadoGems.Com is based, several tornadoes have passed through, devastating the community. The worst tornado destroyed large portions of the world-famous Union University, as well as several neighborhoods and businesses. People were injured, many left homeless, and thousands left without electricity and other basics in life we often take for granted. It's in these experiences when you see the true kindness, caring and dedication of people. Individuals came together from all over to pick up the pieces and put the city back together again.

Each Tornado Gem jewel is crafted in our private studios by individual jewelry designers with an emphasis on quality, construction, freeform style and unique design.
A Tornado Gem always begins as a simple, straight piece of wire. The wire is entirely hand tooled into an impressive design, boasting a mix of a contemporary attitude paired with a genuine flow only found in nature. From the bending and weaving of the wires, to the placing of each gemstone or pearl, careful attention to detail, size, shape, and feeling, along with an eye for color and design, all play a part in the formation. Because each jewel is handmade, each differs from the the next, offering an individuality rarely found in today's jewelry market.
Our Tornado Gems shown on this site primarily use base metals with genuine gemstones and pearls to create an affordable collection of creative bridge jewelry. The base metals we use include nickel silver, copper, brass, as well as plated/coated base metal findings to protect against tarnishing. Should your jewel ever need "shining up", we advise gently polishing/buffing them with a very soft cloth. Do not ever immerse your Tornado Gem jewelry in water or in liquid jewelry cleaners, as this can damage both the metals and the pearls/gemstones.
Jewels can also be created in sterling silver or karat gold-filled metals for an extra charge. If you'd like a specific jewel created in either of these fine metals, please contact us with your request and we will email you a quote.
